AI Assistant Visibility

ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity visibility for brands buyers ask AI about.

Buyers increasingly ask AI assistants which company to choose. NetPurl tests how ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot describe your brand, corrects the gaps and errors we can influence, and builds the sources these assistants may use, so your business is described accurately and mentioned where it is relevant.

Conceptual diagram of four assistant cards labelled ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot as plain text with a note that each uses different data and search sources, beside a checklist of buyer prompts, brand fact accuracy, crawler access, Bing Webmaster Tools, optional llms.txt guidance and AI referral traffic in GA4.
Different tools, different behaviour

Treat each assistant
as its own system.

ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot are built and run by different companies, use different models and search partners, and change often. Some answer from what they learned in training, some search the web while answering, and some show their sources more prominently than others. What is publicly documented is limited, and it is out of date quickly, so we test instead of assuming.

That is why this service starts with a structured test and not with a list of tactics. We record what each assistant says in response to a fixed set of buyer prompts, and the fixes follow from what we find.

Overview

What is AI assistant visibility?

AI assistant visibility is how accurately, how often and in what context AI assistants mention your business when people ask about your field. It covers whether the facts are right, whether you appear among options, and whether the assistant links to your site where it shows sources.

We cannot edit an assistant directly. What we can do is correct and strengthen the information the assistants may find: your own pages, profiles and listings, reviews and third-party coverage, and whether their crawlers are allowed to reach your site. We then track the same prompts every month so improvement is visible.

Problems we solve

Assistant visibility gaps
we fix.

Incorrect information

Assistants show old services, wrong locations or outdated prices.

Consistent, up-to-date facts on your site and key profiles.

Missing from recommendations

Assistants list competitors but never you.

Comparison content and third-party proof that assistants may use.

AI crawlers blocked

Robots rules or firewalls may stop AI search bots from reading your site.

Crawler access review, including robots.txt and firewall settings.

Weak Bing presence

Some assistants and search features may draw on Bing results, where you are poorly indexed.

Bing Webmaster Tools set-up and indexing checks.

Few cited sources

Assistants that show sources link to places your brand does not appear.

Mentions on the publications and directories relevant to your field.

No tracking

You have no record of what assistants say about you.

Monthly prompt tracking with saved answers.

Access and files

Letting the right
crawlers in.

robots.txt and firewalls

Search and AI crawlers identify themselves differently. We check that rules and security settings are not blocking the ones you want, and separate that choice from training-related crawlers, which you may decide to restrict.

  • Review current rules
  • Decide per crawler
  • Document the decision

Bing Webmaster Tools

Copilot uses Bing, and other tools may draw on Bing results. Verifying your site and submitting a sitemap helps Bing find your pages.

  • Verify the site
  • Submit the sitemap
  • Check indexing

llms.txt

A proposed file that points AI tools to your most useful content. Support varies and major providers have not confirmed using it, so it is an optional extra.

  • Optional guidance
  • Never a substitute for content
  • No guaranteed effect
Staying separate from Google AI features

Assistants and
Google are different problems.

Google’s own AI summaries have their own eligibility rules and measurement, covered in Google AI Overviews Optimization. This page is about independent assistants and how they describe your brand.

Wrong or missing facts are often an entity problem, which Entity & Semantic SEO addresses with consistent facts, structured data and profiles. Being recommended depends partly on reviews and third-party mentions, which are part of GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and, for review handling, Reputation & Review Management.

FAQ

ChatGPT / Gemini / Perplexity Visibility
questions.

No one can edit an AI assistant directly. We improve and correct the sources assistants may use, which over time can change how they describe your business, but we cannot promise a specific answer.

Each assistant uses different models, data and search sources, and answers can vary between sessions. That is why we test a fixed prompt set across all of them and track trends, not single answers.

llms.txt is a proposed file that gives AI tools a simple guide to the most important content on your site. Support varies and has not been confirmed by major providers, so we treat it as an optional extra, not a replacement for strong content and SEO.

It can. Microsoft Copilot uses Bing, and some AI search features may also use Bing results, so being well indexed in Bing supports visibility.

Partly. We set up GA4 to group visits from AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity where the referrer is passed, but some visits cannot be identified.

Organic answers cannot be bought. Some platforms offer advertising inside AI products, which is separate from this service.
